Banmali Agrawala, President and CEO of GE South Asia, shares with moneycontrol his views on Budget 2014. He says that it is in line with pre-poll promises and commends the new government's focus on power, health and water. Here's what he has to say:

 "We welcome the first budget from the new government. This is in line with the pre-poll promise of decisiveness and inclusive growth.

Commitment to deliver GST is a progressive step towards a simplified tax regime. While increasing the overall tax collection due to improved compliance, GST will bring down net taxes on goods and services. Quick implementation of these measures and good governance will bolster investor confidence.

The thrust given to renewable energy will help revive business sentiment. This government's commitment to revive manufacturing sector is noticeable and constituting VC fund to promote MSME is a good step.

Honourable Finance Minister did speak about power to all and addressed some areas of concerns. The focus on healthcare and clean water is the need of the hour and this government has taken cognizance by taking a start towards establishing AIIMS in every state. We laud the government for this initiative."
